N.M.M. reported meeting a woman he knew online as Susan Karimi on April 13, 2026 at a lounge in South B area in Nairobi where they both had drinks before retiring to the room they had booked.

The complainant later said he remembered little after checking in. He woke up around 10am the next day with a pounding head. He found himself locked inside the room from the outside. The woman was gone. His mobile phone, National Identity Card, and his two banking card were missing.

The caretaker helped him get out after calling for help. He replaced his Safaricom SIM and pulled his M-Pesa statement. It showed Sh278,000 moved to numbers he did not recognize.

Unknown to the complainant, Karimi was in reality known as Evelyn Wamuyu Ngumo. The court heard that Wamuyu stole a mobile phone Samsung Ultra S25 valued at Sh170,000, a national ID and two ATM cards.

She is accused of fraudulently withdrawing and obtaining e-loan from cooperative bank and Hazina Sacco, totalling to Sh980,000, the property of N.M.M. on April 14, 2026 at Makadara Sub-County.

Wamuyu is said to have accessed the victim’s M-Pesa account, jointly with others not before court, and transacted a total of Sh278,000 and Sh490,000 from Cooperative and Equity bank accounts.
