A cab driver assaulted in a viral Kilimani incident has claimed he was later forced to withdraw his police report.

The allegations raises questions about how the case was handled after the attack drew widespread public outrage.

The driver, who was captured on video being confronted and beaten by four women in Kilimani, narrated that the ordeal began while he was already serving another client.

In a clip shared online, he explains that he had been requested by a male customer and had already started the trip when the women approached his vehicle.

“hmmmh mimi nilikuwa nime requestiwa na client a certain guy…. nikaenda kumchua …so customer akakuja akaingia kwa gari we were waiting for his friend to come …..so hawa waschana wakakuja wakashuka hapo chini ..moja aka fungua mlango aka kaa mbele , mwingine akafungua nyuma akapata client ame kaa apo akamwambia ashuke wao wako wannne na ati gari ni kubwa ati yenye wame request ilikuwa ndogo alafu wakae niwapeleke nikawambia no I have a client na mbaka nime anzisha trip," he narrated.

As he attempted to defend himself, he was heard questioning why his vehicle was being damaged. In the same clip, some of the women demand his phone, claiming he could not afford such an expensive device.

Bystanders were seen recording the incident but did not intervene.

The video sparked condemnation online, with many viewers calling the attack excessive and demanding action from authorities.

Further reports suggested the confrontation escalated after a disagreement over payment, with claims that the women refused to pay the agreed fare.

According to the driver, police were eventually called to the scene and the women were arrested.

“Kuna watu walikuwa hapo ….a certain guy alienda akaita askari wakakuja wakawashika tukawapeleka police station. Nikaandikiwa OB nikambiwa nirudi kesho yake… Kilimani police station.”

However, he said the case stalled the following day when he returned to follow up on the report.

“Kesho yake nika pigiwa na a certain madam kuhusu a certain story nilikuwa nime… Nikaenda kwa acertain office wakaniitisha evidence… wakaniitisha witness… wakaniambia no hatuna time… hatuwezi endelea kuzuia watu kwa cell kama hakuna evidence… wakaniambia niandike withdraw case.”

The claim that he was asked to withdraw the case has become a central point of public debate, with many online questioning why the matter did not proceed despite video evidence of the assault.

The incident also attracted reactions from leaders and members of the public. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko condemned the attack as unacceptable violence against a working man and called for the arrest of those involved, saying no dispute should escalate into physical assault or destruction of property.
