Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 8.1 per cent after five hundred and twenty-three people tested positive for the disease today.
The Health Ministry announced that this was from a 6,469 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.
This now brings the national tally to 185,060 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 1,970,001 cumulative tests done so far.
Some eighty-six patients have also recovered from the disease, pushing the number to 126,680 while eleven deaths have been recorded, raising the death toll to 3,651.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, on Friday, added that some 1,447,648 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered.
Of these, 1,013 895 make up for the first jab while 433, 753 are second doses.
Kagwe reiterated that Kenya is expecting a donation of 1.6 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, “to fully vaccinate 800,000 more Kenyans”, and 500,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson single shot vaccine doses to vaccinate a further half a million.
“Kenya has already ordered 13 million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine whose delivery is expected to begin next month, in line with President Uhuru’s directive that 10 million people be vaccinated by end of the year and the entire adult population of 26 million vaccinated by end of next year,” the CS said.
