Ugandan businesswoman and socialite Zari Hassan has caused a stir after asking security officers to remove guests who arrived at her 46th birthday party wearing jeans and T-shirts.
Zari, popularly known as Zari The Boss Lady, held the private celebration at the Kampala Marriott Hotel in Nsambya, Kampala.
The party had a black-and-white theme, and guests were expected to follow a formal dress code.
According to videos shared online, Zari took the microphone during the event and addressed guests who had ignored the dress instructions.
She then asked her security team to act. “Jeans and T-shirts? Sorry, you are not my type. Security, please do your job. Thank you very much,” she said.
The incident quickly became one of the main talking points from the exclusive event.
Some guests were reportedly turned away because their clothes did not match the formal standard set by the host.
Before the party, Zari had also warned people without invitations not to attend.
She specifically cautioned uninvited TikTokers against showing up, saying she did not want anyone to be embarrassed at the entrance.
The birthday celebration was invitation-only and brought together several celebrities, friends and close associates.
Zari’s decision to enforce the dress code attracted mixed reactions from social media users and entertainment fans across East Africa.
Some people criticised her for being too strict with her guests.
Others supported her, arguing that she had the right to decide how she wanted her private birthday event organised.
The party continued despite the entrance drama. Guests were treated to performances from popular Ugandan musicians, including Spice Diana, Karole Kasita and Elijah Kitaka.
Zari’s birthday fell on September 23, although the main celebration was held later.
She turned 46 during a busy period that also saw her family and employees celebrate her at Brooklyn City College.
The latest incident has once again placed Zari in the spotlight. Known for her bold personality and luxurious lifestyle, the socialite has often attracted attention for setting high standards at her events.
Her strict handling of the dress code has now sparked debate online about whether hosts should have the freedom to remove guests who fail to follow party rules.
