South African entertainer and recording artist Uncool MC is officially shifting from scene-stealing collaborator to center stage with the release of his new single, Setla.
Released via gamma., the high-energy Amapiano record serves as the lead track for his upcoming solo EP scheduled to drop later this month.
The track, whose title translates to 'move your body' or 'dance,' pairs Uncool MC, born Thando Sibeko, with a powerhouse lineup of Amapiano heavyweights.
Joining him on the production and vocal frontline are hitmakers DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic, Ntsako XVI, and Shaun 101.
Uncool MC, who originally started his career behind the decks as a DJ before making waves as an MC and songwriter, views the new release as a major personal milestone.
"Setla carries a deeply personal meaning for me. It’s a celebration of life, growth, and the journey that has brought me to this point in my career," he shared.
"The song is an invitation to let loose and enjoy the moment, while also celebrating how far I’ve come. The references to CÉ LA VI in Sandton speak to the themes of luxury and opulence within the song."
The East Johannesburg native is no stranger to massive audiences or chart-topping records.
Having already racked up over 140 million Spotify streams through guest appearances on hits like "Bula Nthweo" with DJ Maphorisa and "Sela" with DBN Gogo, as well as performing at major festivals such as Afro Nation and Cotton Fest, Uncool MC currently draws over 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Setla sets the tone for his solo project, paving the way for his full EP release on September 25.
