Justin Bieber is reportedly in talks to join the star-studded halftime show for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium, temporarily renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament.
According to TMZ, discussions are underway to add Bieber to a lineup that already includes Madonna, Shakira and BTS.
The pop star and his wife, Hailey Bieber, attended the World Cup opening ceremony in Inglewood, California, last month, where he also surprised VIP guests with an intimate, impromptu performance.
In recent months, Bieber has made a series of low-key but headline-grabbing appearances. He performed at the Grammys wearing only boxer shorts and socks while playing an electric guitar, and at Coachella he provided background vocals during performances of his own songs, fueling speculation about a full-scale return to the stage.
Sources told TMZ that Bieber prefers to perform "in doses" rather than commit to a lengthy tour, making a World Cup halftime appearance an ideal fit as a high-profile, one-off performance.
The reported performance would also come shortly after a string of live releases. The 31-year-old singer released Swag Live From Coachella/Weekend 1 on June 26 and was expected to release a live recording of his Coachella Weekend II performance on July 3, according to Yahoo Sports.
If confirmed, Bieber would join an already eclectic halftime lineup featuring pop icons from different generations and genres.
Organisers have kept production details under wraps, and no official lineup has been confirmed.
