Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka drew attention after returning to his former school, St Mary’s Kibabii High School, in a nostalgic appearance wearing his old school uniform 46 years after he last donned it.
Lusaka, who left the institution in 1980, attended the Kibabii High School Alumni Day dressed in shorts, a shirt and tie, blending in with fellow former students during the celebration.
Rather than observing in his official capacity, he fully joined the day’s activities, with a video showing him dancing alongside students and embracing the moment with visible enthusiasm.
The clip has since gone viral, drawing reactions online.
Some staff members and handlers appeared more reserved, making his lively participation stand out even more.
The visit came shortly after Bungoma County’s Madaraka Day commemorations, where Lusaka underscored the importance of mentorship and academic excellence.
He later visited Teremi Boys High School, urging students to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies.
“Student mentorship plays a vital role in igniting academic success, nurturing talent, and shaping responsible citizens. At a time when cases of indiscipline in schools are a growing concern, consistent guidance and positive role models remain essential in helping learners make the right choices and unlock their full potential,” he said.
Online reactions were mixed, with some netizens praising the light-hearted moment.
One user, @baba tzayana, commented, “Mwambie asag hata kidogo,” while @bibian wrote, “During campaign season, there will be signs.”
