Sean Diddy’s mother defends him against shocking claims made in Netflix documentary

Janice Combs, mother of hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, has finally broken her silence following the release of the explosive Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, produced by 50 Cent.

The series, which has ignited heated debate online, revisits decades-old events from Diddy’s past, resurfacing painful memories and controversial claims.

In a firm and emotional statement, Janice called out the documentary’s distortions.

“I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix series Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released on December 2, 2025,” she said, emphasising that her response is about preserving truth, not just reputation.

She insists that the portrayal of her family’s history has been sensationalised to mislead viewers.

Janice strongly refuted the allegation that her son assaulted her.

“These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life are intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation. The allegations stated by Mr Kirk Burrowes that my son slapped me while we were conversing after the tragic City College events on December 28, 1991, are inaccurate and patently false,” she said, expressing both anger and deep hurt as a mother defending her bond with her child.

Addressing the tragedy itself, Janice added, “That was a very sad day for all of us.”

She also criticised Burrowes for leveraging a heartbreaking incident to promote what she calls “fake narratives” tied to his failed attempts to claim ownership of Bad Boy Records.

The documentary makes several controversial claims about Diddy’s childhood and upbringing.

A childhood friend alleges that Janice was abusive, while former Bad Boy co-founder Kirk Burrowes claims to have witnessed Diddy allegedly slap his mother following the tragic 1991 City College incident, which left nine people dead.

These accusations struck at the heart of Janice’s identity as a mother and prompted her to publicly set the record straight.

Adding fuel to the ongoing discussion, a resurfaced video showing Diddy kissing his mother on the lips has reignited online speculation about their relationship, coinciding with the documentary’s release and the broader conversation surrounding the music mogul’s past.
