At just 14 years old, Boluwatife Balogun, better known as Champz, has officially broken records by becoming the youngest Nigerian and African artiste to surpass one million monthly listeners on Spotify.

According to reports, he currently boasts approximately 1,004,060 monthly listeners, cementing his status as a breakout star.

The milestone comes barely three weeks after the release of his debut five-track EP, Champion’s Arrival, on 11 November 2025.

The project blends rap, afro-swing and Afrobeats; a bold sound for someone his age.

Remarkably, within hours of release, Champion’s Arrival shot to No. 1 on the Apple Music Nigeria Top Albums chart, making Champz the youngest artiste ever to top the platform in Nigeria.

Beyond Nigeria, the EP has charted in 16 countries on Apple Music and even reached No. 71 on the UK Apple Music Top Albums chart.

Fans and industry watchers have been quick to praise Champz’s natural talent and confident delivery.

Many note that his rise goes beyond inherited fame from his father, global Afrobeats icon Wizkid, as his style shows maturity beyond his years, mixing Afrobeat rhythms with youthful rap energy.

Champz’s project contains no featured artistes, highlighting that all the attention is centred on him and his unique voice.

His mother, Oluwanishola (Shola) Ogudu, took to social media to express her gratitude, thanking supporters for embracing her son’s music.

"GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!!!! We are sooo Grateful!! THANK YOU!!" she wrote.

According to TELL magazine, a viral courtside video also captured Wizkid expressing pride and hinting at a possible father-son collaboration in the near future.

With his trajectory already defying expectations, many fans are eager to see where Champz goes next, with some predicting that his future projects could further redefine boundaries for young talent.
