Kenyan singer Ringtone Apoko on Thursday claimed that he quit gospel music because he felt he was a distraction to women.

Speaking to Standard Entertainment, Ringtone said he loves God but women were focusing on him instead of the ‘good news’ he was preaching.

He added that he often received nudes from ladies who were asking to be prayed for.

“Napenda God na nimekuwa nikiimba kutoka kwa heart yangu but unfortunately wasichana hajafocus on God.

“Nilikuwa natumiwa nudes WhatsApp na DM na sijui walikuwa wanatoa number yangu wapi,” he said.

Asked whether he has identified a woman he can settle down with, Ringtone said he is not dating and is waiting on God to bless him with a prayerful woman.

“Getting married to the wrong person can cost you a lot…depression, suicide. So I am not in a hurry,” he remarked.

Beef with Willy Paul

On his differences with Willy Paul, Ringtone claimed his compatriot had certain traits that did not sit well with him but they are not enemies.

He also claimed that he has made his money through selling ‘merchandise’ in schools, adding that he also campaigned for Uhuru Kenyatta back in 2013.

“Music pays. I made a lot of money in 2013 when President Uhuru Kenyatta used my song. "Can you imagine you have a campaign for example 90 days where you are being paid like Ksh500,000 every day? That is a lot of money," he said.
