Madhouse is one of Nairobi's most recognised landmarks

One of the region’s international party landmarks New Florida Club, popularly known as Madhouse, is headed for closure, MondayBlues has learned.

The disco, which is Nairobi’s oldest entertainment hub, will be throwing a party for its clients this week as it presents its closure show.

Over the years, the venue that has hosted international stars but has seen management battling with the premise’s owner, a case that saw the management go to court to stop an eviction notice three years ago.

Sources from the club told MondayBlues that its lease period had at long last expired and the owners have already marked a new venue for the club.

“There will be a mega party (at the club) this week and it will be during the bash that we will announce where we will relocate to - it’s building not so far from the club’s current location,” the source told MondayBlues.

Madhouse, situated along Koinange Street is one of the three Florida Group clubs. The other one, Florida 2000, is situated along Moi Avenue while the other one is in Mombasa.
