Legendary singer and songwriter Eric Wainaina over the weekend celebrated his 47th birthday at the Nairobi National Park. The soft-spoken artiste was tongue-tied as a handful of his close-knit family burst into birthday tunes late evening at the Park where he resides with his family.
“I’m truly humbled as this came as a pure surprise, but what a joy it is to celebrate a new year with friends and family,” he said. His spouse Sheba was at hand to ensure his 47th birthday bash went smoothly as artistes present took turns to strum and hum the night away in the wild with a special appearance by H_art The Band who described him as their mentor and true friend.
Sonko lends a helping hand to artistes
With only a handful of political heads stepping in to help artistes during the pandemic, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has embarked on a mission to help local artistes. The Governor, who has been offering both financial support and facilitation of his personal vehicles and locations urged creatives with ingenious ideas, but lack resources, to reach out to him for support.
“I will continue supporting our local artistes to improve their careers, especially those lacking resources during this period,” he said. Some of the beneficiaries include singer Kelma Shiko, gospel artistes Mbuvi and songwriter Reds Hot. Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has been on the same trail with Coast-based talents - Susumila, Masauti and Tanasha Donna.

Speaking to Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle after a TV show in which he appeared with the beautiful singer, Masauti revealed that the governor - who has lately kept a low key when it comes to political life – has been working with Mombasa artistes to uplift their livelihoods.
“The governor (Joho) assisted Tanasha and I in recording the new Liar project and we are doing more together. And it is not just us as he is working with many more artistes, football clubs and youth groups in their projects,” Masauti told Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle.
