Five county government staff are under investigations after overseeing the exhumation of a colleague's body to retrieve a uniform.
The five and several family members of the deceased spent the better part of yesterday at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) office at Butere Police Station.
The detectives are probing how the body that had been buried was exhumed without a court order.
Martin Shikuku Alukoye, who was an employee in the newly-formed Kakamega County Youth Service, fell into River Eburinde on August 7 and drowned.
He was epileptic and is suspected he had suffered a seizure before falling into the river.

Considering the circumstances of his death, elders and the family decided to bury him on Sunday night in line with customs.
The body was fully dressed in a green uniform, boots, service cap, whistle and a lanyard.
On Monday mid-morning, the Ituti community county administrators visited the deceased's family and demanded to be given the uniforms allocated to Alukoye when he joined the service.
The county officials were told that he was buried with the regalia.
To the family's dismay, youth service officers were instructed to exhume the body and retrieve the uniform.
The officers did not have authority to carry out the exhumation.
The body was stripped and later reburied on Monday evening in fresh clothes.
Yesterday, police summoned 10 people, including five county staff alleged to have ordered or participated in the exhumation.
