Tanzanian rapper Emmanuel Elibariki, better known as Nay wa Mitego has been summoned by the Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (BASATA) a regulatory body again over lyrics in his new song, ‘Alisema’.
Nay, who has been releasing songs to criticize the Tanzanian government, revealed that BASATA summoned him to teach and explain to him how he should be composing his lyrics.
“Kikubwa kilikua kuhusiana na wimbo wa Alisema. Kuangalia maudhui yake na kuelimishana hapa na pale. Elimu ambayo nafikiri kila msanii anatakiwa kujua,” said Nay.
The summons comes just weeks after his mother advised him to quit music completely.
According to his mother, the Nay was putting his life at risk by continuing to release controversial songs that put him in an awkward position with the government.
Nay is popular for his scathing lyrics, attacking not only the government but even his fellow artists.
On his social media accounts, he uses the name "NayTrueboy", saying he always speaks his mind and tells the truth.
