In 2016, Akothee’s manager Nelson Oyugi revealed that the singer was worth an estimated $61 million (KSh6.2 billion) becoming by default, perhaps, the richest musician in East Africa.

It is no surprise that the business savvy singer who owns Akothee Safaris does not take it lightly when things to do with her finances become blurry.

Take for instance her recent battle with Kenya Power where Akothee claims that the company billed her twice and sent an incorrect bill receipt.

According to Akothee, she paid Sh738, 000 only to receive another bill that read Sh149, 000 three weeks later.

Sharing the bill on social media, Akothee wrote that she was frustrated having visited the company’s Mtwapa branch several times to correct the anomaly but to no avail.

She added that when she went to its Nyali offices, she was handed a nil balance receipt. The ‘Give it to me’ singer is now demanding that the company visits her posh home, fixes the mess and erases her name on the bill.

“KPLC Mtwapa branch am at home waiting for you come and fix this mess! I have been to your offices many times demanding for the bill since you never sent any into my mails & always said my balance was nill, and because I never wanted a repeat of you obtaining another 800,000 ksh again, I just decided to bank money on the same accounts based on my consumption, 1 week ago I still went to your offices in Nyali since Mtwapa kept saying their systems were low, I was given a print out of 0 balance, so send your team urgently to come fix this mess, Erase my name on this bill and print out my bill! Stop this shit,” wrote Akothee in a now deleted Instagram post.
