Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga  has assured her electorate that she is now in good terms with her husband after political differences ahead of the recently concluded General Election.

Gladys and her husband George Wanga had conflicting political convictions over the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat.

Wanga’s latest comments are now clearing the air on rumours that were doing rounds in the county that they were not in good terms over their political differences.

In the contentious gubernatorial race, Wanga was a staunch supporter of Governor Cyprian Awiti, while the husband supported Awiti’s main rival and immediate former Kasipul MP, Oyugi Magwanga.

Magwanga became second after Awiti in the race that attracted four candidates.

During the campaigns, Wanga was one of the top strategists who propelled Awiti’s campaigns.

On the other hand, George was among the top strategists who led Magwanga’s campaigns in the county.

In Rangwe Constituency, where the couple hail from, each struggled to stage campaign rallies to ensure their preferred candidate got the highest number of votes.

But last week, the Woman Rep visited Homa Bay market where she admitted that the politics polarised her family. She said they had ironed out their differences.

“We have to admit that the gubernatorial race in this county polarised many families, including mine. But we have got a solution and everything is now smooth in my family,” said the legislator.

The Woman Rep told area residents to iron out their differences, which emerged in their families over the gubernatorial race.

She told them to emulate her family as an example in recuperation from political discontent.

“We have to come to terms with the fact that Awiti is now the Governor of Homa Bay regardless of whom we supported. I call on all families and Homa Bay residents as a whole to shun political differences and move on,” she said.

She noted that politics had been overtaken by events hence the residents should focus on development agenda.

Wanga promised to serve all the area residents regardless of whom they voted for and appealed to her fellow legislators to do the same.

She was on a mission to distribute 50 bags of cement, 50 pieces of iron sheet and umbrellas to traders who lost their property in an inferno which razed down business premises at the market.
