Top gospel singer Mercy Masika, who was crowned the Best Female Gospel artiste during the Groove Awards last week, jumped into a taxi and abandoned her car after it broke down on her way to a ceremony she was meant to perform at.

The Amukomete hit maker drove in the taxi for over 65 kilometres to the Pulse Editor Stevens Muendo late father’s funeral in Makueni County as she could not wait for her car to be fixed due to time constraints.

And when she got to the Mbooni East event that had been attended by many dignitaries among them retired Chief of the Defence Forces Jeremiah Kiang’a, former ambassador B. K. Kisilu area MP Kisoi Munyao among other political leaders, the singer did not disappoint as she lightened up mourners with song and dance.

Mercy Masika is arguably the most popular gospel across East Africa currently after making a major breakthrough last year in her singing career spanning over 15 years.
