The highly anticipated nuptials between Nigerian showbiz master 2Face Idibia and his girlfriend of many years Annie Macaulay, a celebrated Nollywood actress, happened on the 8th of March 2013.

The initial ceremony kicked off with the who-is-who in continental showbiz having been invited to the couple’s traditional wedding, that was scheduled to take place in Nigeria. The pair held a grand ceremony in Dubai to crown what was widely been dubbed the ‘celebrity wedding of the year’.

Even though the two have been living together since 2011 following a secret union, the world was expecting them to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day before 2Face announced that the wedding had been moved to March.

The move was clouded by heavy speculation that the singer’s previous lovers would pop up and oppose the union — the last time he announced a wedding postponement no vows were ever exchanged.

“Annie is my first and true love. I had known her before I met the other women in my life. As a Christian, I had to marry one woman and it just had to be Annie. We had a secret union after we had reached an agreement and amicable understanding about the mothers of my children. It was a tough decision to make, one of the toughest in my life,’ 2Face is quoted to have said.

“I secretly married her because I have so much respect for my other babies’ mothers. I cannot afford to hurt their feelings with a sudden society wedding with Annie, not now. I chose her above the others because she has been through it all with me,’ he added.

While attending school, 2Face started composing and singing jingles at the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996. He would move to Lagos and started performing with fellow rapper BlackFace, forming the Plantashun Boyz. He had met BlackFace while attending school. He started calling himself 2Face in 1996. He cited the reasoning as “trying to demarcate my personal life with my business life”.

In 2006, his song African Queen was used in the soundtrack for the film Phat Girlz, which was released internationally. The Plantashun Boyz came together briefly in 2007 to record an album, which they titled Plan B. He also released a promotion album in 2008 releasing the single, Enter the Place.

He released The Unstoppable International Edition album in 2010.

Besides his huge music success and continental popularity, 2Face is known for his narrow escapes from death. He had a close shave with death three times, at different locations and times, including gun shootouts.
