For years, matatus operating under the NMOA Sacco were not as daring. They were considered shady, boring, dull and slow.

They were not loud and had no screaming graffiti. Their makangas are not rude and music has never been loud in these ‘mats.’

But competition on the route is changing things now. The operators have been forced to change fast and keep up with new trends.

NMOA Sacco has introduced sexy nganyas and have gone slow on their once ‘strict rules’.

Their fully souped up nganya, dubbed Vision 2050, plies the city centre and Ngong route and is already giving its competitors a run for their money.

Sporting dark colours, Vision 2050 is different from the other matatus.

Speaking to Ma3 Culture, one of the crew members Eric Rioba, said; “We realised that our business was not doing well due to our ‘old fashioned ways’. Most of the passengers are young people who are easily swayed by loud music, screaming colours and graffiti.

The mathree has four woofers, 18 mid-range speakers and has installed 18-inch TVs.

Rioba added that they now play the latest music and this is slowly attracting new customers.
