Security personnel attached to the newly appointed Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala had to whisk him away after he collapsed in the Mara.
Balala who was in a panel with Deputy President William Ruto and Narok Governor Samuel Tunai during the Narok County Investment Summit, collapsed after having a meal at the VIP tent.
“The CS had been looking frail, but was able to finish fielding questions from the investors,” a source told The Nairobian.
“We heard a commotion in the VIP tent, prompting us to rush to the scene to see for ourselves. That is when we saw the CS lying on the ground,” added the source.
Balala was whisked in his official car as a siren-blaring ambulance from the Narok County government trailed it to the Serena airstrip where he received first aid before being airlifted. Meanwhile, security officers attached to the DP and the CS kept the press at arms length.
