A woman was in court recently accusing her former neighbour of beating her and attempting to ‘steal’ her husband.

The complainant identified as Joyce Wanjiru alleged that Margaret Wanjaa, who has since moved to another estate, attempted to steal her husband on November 10 in Kasarani.

Wanjiru, 24, claimed that the accused attacked her after she foiled a ‘plan’ which she was reportedly ‘executing’ at a clothing line. According to the complainant, Wanjaa intentionally left behind her clothes at the common clothing line after moving to another estate allegedly to bait Wanjiru’s husband. The husband, the court heard, took the clothes from the line and kept them in their house.

The court heard that Wanjaa returned later to collect her clothes which were now in the complainant’s house. Wanjaa is said to have met Wanjiru and her husband heading to the shop at around 7pm and exchanged greetings.

It was then that Wanjiru’s husband reportedly asked the accused to wait for him at the door as he fetched her clothes.

The court heard that Wanjiru went back to the house alone to confront Wanjaa. An argument is said have ensued and Wanjaa beat up the complainant.

Wanjaa denied the charges and was released on a Sh10,000 cash bail. The case begins on April 15, 2016.
