Bernard Owino

A  33-year-old man has been charged in court for allegedly conning a woman of a wedding dress.

The court heard that Bernard Owino, a designer, reportedly received Sh30,000 from Agnes Omuchina on June 25 and August 20, with the promise of making her a wedding gown, which he never delivered.

According to police records, Omuchina was shopping for a dress at Pangani Market when Owino approached her claiming he could also sew her maids dresses at an affordable price.

The two signed an agreement and Omuchina paid Sh10,000 down payment and later sent him another Sh20,000 via M-Pesa.

However, when she went to pick the gown and dresses on the agreed date, Owino was nowhere to be seen and he had switched off his phone.

She reported the matter to police who managed to arrest the accused.

He denied the charges. His case will be heard on October 19.
