1. Education

B.A.,Post-graduate diploma in Mass Communication, University of Nairobi

2. Experience

I can edit anything with my eyes closed; lately learnt a lot of publishing management secrets.

3. Awards/Recognition (if any)

Standing ovation when I unleashed striking points during school debate at aged 10 – they would never know I had ‘crammed’ the points from a write-up by a helpful brother.

4. First Job/First salary

Founding editor of a vernacular community newsletter/Sh4K a month.

5. Worst job/Best job

Elections observer/agent; the politician lost and refused to pay us/Sunday School teacher.

6. First neighbourhood/current hood

Zimmerman Route 44/Near an airport runway where I can see planes taking off.

7. Worst mistake

I squandered a chance to become a teacher ‘by profession.’ It is such a noble career that even the Messiah was referred to as ‘Teacher’.

8. Missed opportunity

The once-booming quails business, and aloe vera farming before that.

9. One thing you can’t give away

My joy; the more I share it the more it multiplies.

10. Most embarrassing moment

Day I took so faint a penalty kick during an Inter-village finals match that the goalkeeper stopped it with one finger, and that cost us the trophy.

11. One thing you regret

I did not go to nursery school; there was none where I grew up. I’m currently being taught pronunciation by my baby class son.

12. Unforgettable person/proudest moment

Dr Willy Mutunga, President of the Supreme Court of Kenya; I’m yet to meet anyone more humble.

13. Preferred Epitaph

‘Here rests a man who did his beat’
