A City Hall employee who was attacked and seriously injured while on duty has sued the man who roughed him up.

Anthony Muasa, 46, attached at City Hall’s Environment Department, reportedly suffered multiple injuries after Bernard Onyango together with other youths, attacked him while collecting dog carcasses at Meta Meta area.

The court heard that on April 14, Muasa was loading the poisoned dogs in an ongoing stray dog eradication exercise when he was confronted by irate youths.

They demanded to know why their dogs were being poisoned without their consent and then started beating.

Muasa, who was taken to hospital by well-wishers, reported the matter to police who managed to arrest Onyango, said to have been the mob’s ringleader.

Onyango denied the charges and was set free on cash bail of Sh20,000.

His trial begins on July 8.
