A suspect who allegedly raped a woman and later inserted a panga in her private parts has been charged in a city court.

On January 11, it is alleged, Peter Mulwa, at Njiru Shopping Centre, together with another suspect, attacked and raped Caroline Taabu.

The court heard that on the fateful day, Taabu had gone to visit a friend when two armed men accosted her with a panga, dragged her to a nearby deserted construction site and raped her for hours.

The two men allegedly raped Taabu in turns and when they were done, inserted a panga inside her. Taabu’s screams attracted passersby who rushed her to hospital where she was treated for multiple injuries.

The hospital reported the matter to the police and three days later,  Mulwa was arrested. Police are still looking for his accomplice.

Mulwa denied the charges and was  released on a Sh100,000 cash bail.

His case begins on March 27, 2015.
