After William Ruto was declared President-elect on Tuesday, celebrities and popular social media personalities have come out to congratulate him.

Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz led the pack of stars to comment on the win moments after the declaration, taking to his Instagram stories to appreciate Kenyans for a peaceful election process.

"Pongezi sana wana Kenya kwa kuhitimisha zoezi la uchaguzi na kumpata Rais leo. Sasa hivi tena si team Ruto, Wajackoyah ama team Odinga. Ni Kenya Pamoja kuendeleza maendeleo ya Kenya na wana Kenya kwa ujumla," Platnumz wrote, urging Kenyans to maintain calm.

Celebrated American singer Akon took to his Instagram account to send his warm wishes. He uploaded two images to the app, one of Ruto and another of UDA supporters campaigning.

"Congratulations to my dear brother William Ruto as he is declared winner of the presidential elections in Kenya," Akon wrote to his 7.8 million followers.

Supermodel Ajuma Nasanyana also sent her message via Instagram, congratulating Ruto and urging Kenyans to remain calm. The accomplished model uploaded a throwback picture in which she was interacting with the president-elect in an all-smiles moment.

"Kenya's 5th president-elect William Samoei Ruto. In the end, Kenya wins. May peace prevail," Nasanyana wrote.

Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei followed suit, taking to social media to post a photo of Ruto, the incoming first lady Rachel Ruto as well as Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua and his wife Dorcas.

Kosgei told Kenyans to "keep holding Kenya in prayer."

"Congratulations to his excellency the president-elect of the republic of Kenya," she wrote, adding, "Peace and stability to thrive. Kenyans are all winners; we are one nation under God."

Comedian Njugush congratulated Ruto too, saying that it is time to continue moving forward calmly as a nation. "Tusonge mbele," Njugush wrote.

He added: "Mimi nafurahia hakuna run-off we move on kujitafutia riziki bana. Peace ,Peace , Peace Peace Maisha iendelee tujue sasa unga itatoka wapi aki ! Also Asante Kwa Choir."

"Congratulations sir. Let's keep the peace," actress Catherine Kamau, better known as Kate Actress wrote.

Popular influencer Huddah Monroe, who has hinted at her support for Ruto in the past, also congratulated him for his election.

She uploaded several images of the 55-year-old politician on Instagram stories seen by The Standard Entertainment, with the caption "my president."

"I am proud to be a Kenyan from today. Africa deserves strong, sober, young leaders. Kenya has made a change for Africa," she wrote.

She added: "I will carry my flag and passport with pride from today. I am from Kenya the greatest country in Africa!"

Celebrated footballer Victor Wanyama wrote on twitter: "Congratulations to the president-elect, my friend Doctor William Ruto. Looking forward to your leadership and implementation of your manifesto. Kazi Kwako."

Some popular personalities, however opted to preach peace only, urging youth to return to work to build the nation.

The rapper Khaligraph Jones uploaded an old clip of actor Omosh, real name Joseph Kinuthia. In the viral clip, Omosh decries how hard life has been and the day-to-day struggle to make ends meet.

"How life has been in the past few days. Kesho watu warudi kazi tafadhali, as we maintain peace," Jones captioned the video.
