Issac Ruto clarifies why he travelled from Bomet to Nairobi by helicopter

Former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto has denied claims that he was picked by helicopter from his home residence in Bomet County to the State House in Nairobi for political realignments on Wednesday, May 13.

Through a statement, the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader said that he indeed traveled from Bomet to the State House, but he was with his wife whose services were required in the officer.

“I wish to clarify that indeed I travelled to Nairobi this morning using a helicopter with my wife who is in the essential service sector, and who was required to transact official business in her office,” clarified Ruto.

Ruto also asked Kenyans not to ‘read much’ into the situation since traveling by helicopter was not unusual adding that it wasn’t his first time.

“The travel by helicopter was not unusual as it is a matter of public record that I have once in a while been using the same means of transport to various destinations,” Ruto said.

Ruto also refuted a Twitter post that says he paid President Uhuru a visit at the State House to discuss COVID-19 mitigation measures.

Photos of the helicopter were also shared on twitter, with a section of people saying he was being set up for a top job at the government.

“I wish to set the record straight that my travel had nothing to do with the political realignments in the country, as is being speculated in the social media,” said the former Bomet governor.
