Four people died on Saturday, October 26, after the cars they were traveling in collided head-on along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The accident happened near Emali township when a car heading to Nairobi attempted to overtake another but ended up colliding with the other which was heading in the opposite direction.
According to Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Napeiyan, two passengers died on the spot while the other two died while undergoing treatment.
"The driver of the car heading towards Mombasa and his male passenger died on the spot while the driver of the other car and his passenger succumbed to injuries while being treated at Kilome Nursing Home," said the Police Commander.

The bodies were transferred to the Kilome Nursing Home mortuary.
The wrecks of the two cars they were traveling in were dragged to the Sultan Hamud Police Station.
The bodies await identification and autopsy.
