A 28-year-old man in Bungoma County died on Monday morning after winning a chang’aa (illicit brew) drinking competition.
Reports indicate that the deceased and other locals had converged on Sunday night at Mukosi village in Kimilili where the winner would take home Sh1000.
Participants were handed five-litre bottles of chang’aa and according to Margaret Waswa, a village elder, the winner collapsed soon after finishing his bottle.
His friends opted to take him home to rest but he was confirmed dead on Monday morning.
