An abandoned Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centre in Kericho has been turned to a lodging.

This is after its construction stalled and residents of the area decided to use it for ‘other activities.’

Kabirer ECDE is in a sorry state and used condoms can be seen on the dusty floors.

It was put up in 2014 but has never been used and remains unfenced.

Wesley Bor, a resident of Kabirer called on the government to speed up its completion, noting that locals are willing to help out in completing the toilets.

“The building has never been used. It lacks desks, blackboard and a toilet. It’s also not fenced.

“We are calling upon the county government to help us speed up the completion,” he said.

Some of the residents also alleged that there are private developers who are eyeing the property and intend to transform it into a private school.
