On the 28th of August 2017, police tried to block some of the individuals who had accompanied the National Super Alliance’s flag bearer to the Supreme Court.

Police officers approached the team and tried to inspect the ODM leader’s followers. Running mate Kalonzo Musyoka’s bodyguards also faced the same as they were stopped from entering minutes later.

Raila, however, demanded that his entourage is let in, even though the police inspector Mr Papai insisted that there were procedures that needed to be followed at the gate.

Bitterly protesting, Raila said “Which procedures are you referring to? This is not a police station. Whose order is that? You cannot block us from attending the Supreme Court proceedings. These are NASA principals and we have a right to attend.”

His team was allowed in and when part of his bodyguards got barred too, Raila personally went and directed them inside.

The police officers guarding the entrance of City Hall were left in dismay.

After some time, other leaders including Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Majority leader Aden Duale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen were also allowed in.

The seven judges, through a unanimous decision, allowed Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka to inspect election material used during the presidential election.

The judges also ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to supply copies of all forms 34A and 34B.

They also ordered for parties to be allowed to use reading devices to assist in distinguishing the fake forms from the real ones.

Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta’s teams were granted read-only access to IEBC servers and copy all the information they needed.
