Stop unnecessary speculation that may fan hate and violence. Ballot papers cannot be the exact number. There must be some contingency measures because the voters may be more or less in any polling station. That is just common sense.

Bearing in mind what happened in the last General Election, we should not take for granted such issues. The electoral commission must be transparent in all its dealings to avoid unnecessary speculation that may lead to negative information getting to the public.

I'm deeply concerned by the order of Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i that people will not be allowed to remain at the polling centres. It should be noted that some of the polling centres will double as counting centres and the people have a right to witness the counting and announcement of results. Is Matiang'i preparing ground for advance chaos even before the results are announced?
Where does he draw that power from? Our electoral laws do not bar people from witnessing counting and announcement of results. I plead with the media and people of good will to stop this unconstitutional directive.
