My parents want to disown me for loving a Christian man

My name is Aisha. I fell in love with a Christian man named Chris, and he has treated me better than all the other Muslim guys I have dated. Falling in love with guy has however landed me in a dilemma because my parents want to disown me.

Few weeks ago Chris proposed to me and I was so happy. I agreed to marry him but when I told my parents, they threatened to disown me as their daughter and that I would never receive their blessings if I married Chris.

I am in a huge dilemma because marriage cannot work without your parents blessings but at the same time, I love this guy with all my heart. Should religion determine who we love? Chris makes me very happy and now I do not know what to do.

I had a friend who married a Christian guy and her parents disowned her, since then, she has never had peace of mind and she thinks of divorcing the man, so that she can reconcile with her parents.

This is really hard for me guys, please help. I love Chris, but I don’t want my parents to disown me.
