EACC probes claims of scholarship misuse

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is investigating three ward scholarship committees over suspected fraud.

The commission's officer in charge of Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu counties George Ojowe said they are investigating Kakuyuni, Malindi and Sabaki committees over claims of suspicious allocation of money from the the fund.

Mr Ojowe said after receiving complaints of fraud from the public, EACC had launched investigations with the help of the assembly.

“EACC received complaints against the misuse and allocation of scholarship funds. We have launched investigation into the claims,” he said.
