Machakos, Kenya: Detectives in Machakos are holding two senior health officials for questioning over the disappearance of Ksh4.3m.
The two, a Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and an accountant based at Kathiani district hospital recorded statements with the detectives on Monday.
According to the Machakos County Criminal Investigations Officer Pius Macharia, the money in question was stolen in late June this year.
Macharia told The Standard two officers were helping them with investigations into the matter and are likely to appear in court.
“For now we are holding the two for interrogations and we shall let you know our next course of action as soon as investigations are complete”, said the county top detective.

The suspects were picked for questioning by sleuths from the flying squad and spent the better part of Monday recording statements at the county CID headquarters.
Sources indicated the lost money was withdrawn during the usual rush to close government expenditures at the end of 2013 /2014 financial year.
