Turkana, Kenya: Two Members of Parliament from Turkana County were Tuesday grilled by police over protests that rocked in the area leading to the suspension Tullow Oil’s drilling activities.
MPs James Lomenen (Turkana South) and Nicholas Ngikor (Turkana East) were detained at the Lodwar CID offices for hours over the incident.
They had been asked to report to CID headquarters in Nairobi over allegations of incitement but chose to report to Lodwar.

Lomenen and Ngikor were in the company of local leaders when they presented themselves before the police.
CID boss Ndegwa Muhoro said the two had gone underground since Sunday. “We summoned them for questioning regarding the incident that happened at the weekend. We have also sent reinforcement to the area to ensure business goes on,” he said.
Muhoro added that the leaders were likely to face incitement charges.
