AFC Leopards have been fined Sh500, 000 and docked a further three (3) points from the already accumulated points after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee ruled in favor of Kakamega Homeboyz in last Sunday's botched match
According to FKF CEO Barry Otieno, Kakamega Homeboyz will be awarded the three points and two goals.
"The FKF-PL Round 25 match no. 222 has been awarded to Kakamega Homeboyz on a three (3) points-two (2) goals basis. However, AFC Leopards SC has been docked a further three (3) points from the already accumulated points," read the letter released on Wednesday.
FKF has further ordered Leopards to carter or refund for incurred medical costs by center referee Michael Obuya, who was assaulted by a section of Leopards fans in the match.
Last Sunday, the match pitting Ingwe and Homeboyz was abandoned in the 34th minutes after Leopards fans stormed the pitch after disagreeing with center referee Obuya decision not to red-card Homeboyz goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo for allegedly handling the ball outside the box.
Homeboyz were leading 1-0. Police officers had to intervene to restore calm by lobbing teargas to disperse both fans who engaged in physical fights and insults.
Furthermore, the committee ruled that Ingwe will play their next four home matches without their fans.
"Leopards shall play their next four (4) home FKF-PL matches behind closed doors. The club shall ensure this is adhered to. They will also pay a fine of Sh500,000," read the letter signed by Otieno.
The committee concluded that they are investigating Leopards coach Patrick Aussems and goalkeeper trainer Lawrence Webo for their conduct in troubled match.
