While the country will be celebrating the day Kenya attained independence in 1963, eternal rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will today (Wednesday) afternoon clash at Nyayo Stadium in an exhibition match organised by the government as part of the Madaraka Day celebrations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga are expected to grace the match where the winner of the Madaraka Cup will go home with Sh1 million, while the runners up will get Sh500,000.
The match comes just over three weeks after K'Ogalo and Ingwe met on May 8th at Kasarani in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match that ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have met 94 times with K'Ogalo winning 33 encounters and AFC Leopards securing 28 victories. The other 29 clashes have ended in draws.
Ingwe have not beaten K’Ogalo in the last six years.
