Mathare United revived their survival hopes on Saturday after defeating Nairobi City Stars 2-0 in a FKF Premier League match played at Ruaraka Grounds.
Daniel Otieno and Clifford Alwanga scored in either half as Mathare registered their third consecutive win.
The win propelled them three points above the relegation zone as the former champions eye to avoid being relegated to the National Super League.
Mathare are still 15th in the log but with 24 points, three more than Western Stima and four above bottom placed Vihiga United.
The loss ended City Star’s winning streak that was them edge out title hopefuls Tusker and AFC Leopards.

Elsewhere, Bidco United came from behind to hold Ulinzi Stars to a 1-1 draw at Thika Stadium.
Mark Bikokwa gave Ulinzi a barrow 1-0 halftime lead before Bidco United leveled the scores in the second half through Peter Nzuki’s penalty.
The draw leaves Bidco 11th with 40 points as Ulinzi remain 10th with 41 points.
