Blak Blad coach blames poor first half for loss to Impala Saracens.
Kabras Sugar head coach Henly Du Plessis has reiterated the importance of topping the Kenya Cup standings ahead of the play-offs.
The sugar millers underlined their title credentials over the weekend as they beat strugglers Mean Machine 41-22 at the University of Nairobi grounds.
The result saw Kabras consolidate top spot on the standings with 54 points, with only four matches remaining to end the 2018-19 league phase.
“Our ultimate goal is to top the standings as we head to the play-offs. We are in the running and I believe we can do it. We just need to ensure we pick maximum points in every game,” Du Plessis said.

With only points difference separating his side from second placed KCB, Du Plessis said Kabras have an upper hand as they have relatively easier fixtures remaining as compared to the bankers.
The tactician commended his second half substitutes as they had to dig dip to overcome a stubborn Mean Machine side that had taken a 15-12 lead at some point in the opening half before they were suppressed.
‘’We really struggled in the first half and after making some changes, we showed a lot of improvement. It was important for us to bounce back after that disappointment against KCB,” Du Plessis said.
Elsewhere, Blak Blad lost 38-19 to Impala Saracens at the KCB Sports Club while Kenya Harlequin beat Mwamba 43-34.
