Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino is set to serve for three more years.
According to FIFA, Infantino possessed the required nomination letters from five of the 211 member federations before the set deadline - Tuesday, February 5.
Ramon Vega, a former footballer and Infantino's close competitor failed to amass enough support to give Infantino a run for his money.
This means that the voting event scheduled for June 5 this year would be more of a coronation than competition for a seat up for grabs.
Vega, Infantino’s ‘strongest’ rival, struggled to amass enough support from the federations, leaving the 48-year-old poised to serve at the helm of football’s highest office once again.
