It’s official!
Alexis Sanchez and Mayte Rodrigues have parted ways.
The Chilean took it upon himself to break the news to his fans on Instagram through an emotional post describing the ‘good times’ the two shared.
Using a presentation (Powerpoint-like), Sanchez revealed pictures of himself and the actress (29), with a sad love song in the background.
"I wish you the best of the world it was beautiful to have met you and to share nice moments with you, but we decided that each one should follow their own path, to seek our dreams. I do not usually do this but I ask respect from all those who speak without knowing to do harm because behind everything there is family and children... respect." – Translated by Mirror.
Following removal of all intimate pictures of each other from their Instagram accounts earlier this year, there was speculation that the couple had already split, speculations Sanchez downplayed in his video.
"Is it necessary to hurt a couple, family, friends etc … with so many lies?” He wrote.
He then asked for peace and respect from those propagating rumours, both for him and his ex:
"I wish you happy and that there is not so much evil in your hearts. KARMA do not bother my partner RESPECT."
The former Arsenal forward has not yet set Old Trafford alight since his move in January.
He has featured in 3 of Manchester United’s first four games of the season, the latest, a 2-0 win at Burney that saw him subbed off in the second half.
