Mauricio Pochettino had been keen on Harry Maguire but he opted to join Leicester.
Smalling could leave Old Trafford after the arrival of Victor Lindelof with West Ham and Everton thought to be keen.
But according to the Mail , Spurs are weighing up a bid for the England international.
