Manchester United are reportedly willing to wait until deadline day to secure the signing of Jose Fonte, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Jose Mourinho is keen on making the 32-year-old his fifth major signing of the summer as he wants to add an experienced head to his defence.
United have already spent £145million this summer on Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived on a free transfer from PSG.
While Mourinho is an admirer of Fonte, his arrival is not deemed as crucial and United won’t pay over the odds to sign the Portugal international.
