Bomet County Assembly on Wednesday afternoon adjourned its normal business to discuss woes facing Deputy Governor Stephen Mutai.
Kembu Ward MCA Julius Korir through a motion of county importance said the embattled deputy governor was elected by county residents and his frosty working relations with Governor Isaac Ruto had the potential of bringing down the county government.
Mr Korir was prompted by a letter by Mr Mutai to the Assembly and copied to Governor Ruto protesting denial of funds to his office.
While moving the motion, Korir said it was a grave matter for the county to conduct its executive meetings without involving the Deputy Governor.
“We should take serious claims that the county for the last two years has not involved the deputy governor in official cabinet meetings. How can our governor run the affairs of the county like a personal kiosk?” he asked.

The motion drew heated debate among the MCAs, with the county representatives resorting to political alignment.
MCAs allied to the governor opposed the motion, saying the woes facing Mutai were self-inflicted.
Boito Ward MCA Robert Bett said Mutai does not deserve sympathy since he had failed to take up his constitutional role.
