Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is set to leave the club this summer, despite being offered a three-year contract and a significant payrise.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger last week made a public plea for Sagna to stay at the club beyond this season, but the Frenchman is set to make an exit after the World Cup.

After an Arsenal fan club Q&A meeting with club chief executive Ivan Gazidis, a representative of the fan group claims that Gazidis personally revealed that Sagna has rejected the terms of a new contract.

"Gonnella and Gazidis personally told us is that Sagna will leave the club this summer as he had a three-year contract on the table since last year with very good parameters [pay rise], but so far he does not accept them."

It leaves Wenger facing the likelihood that he will lose one of his senior players during the transfer window, and adds another area in which the side need to strengthen during the summer.

As reported by Mirror Sport's John Cross this week, the Arsenal boss says he will 'respond' if he loses Sagna: "I will have to accept it because only he can decide that now. If he goes we will accept it, we will accept it and respond."

Fans are already calling for Wenger to sign a striker and a reinforcement at centre-half, and the Arsenal boss says he is looking to bring in two or three new players during the transfer window.
