"A new technology such as the Walka requires significant amounts of investment, however, it is an investment that we are committed to make to ensure Kenyans and Dstv subscribers have access to the latest media and technology available in the market."
The device has a 3.5-inch display capable of receiving the broadcaster’s DVB-H mobile TV signal.
Kyengo said that the difference between the device and the previous devices that have been launched before is that the Walka is a product of Multichoice.
"Other devices were launched in partnership with the manufacturers," he explained.
Multichoice Kenya General Manager Steve Isaboke said the technology continues to transform the way the Kenyan consumers access news, information and entertainment.
Real time
"Over the last 15 years, Multichoice has ensured that Kenyans have access to all the latest breaking television news and entertainment in real time for the last 15 years," Isaboke said.
"The introduction of new technology such as the Walka is key to ensuring that DStv subscribers get more enjoyment and control of their television viewing."
The device will be available for Sh9,999 on the market.
Dstv Mobile also announced that subscribers can activate their DStv Mobile devices via its website and through the Multichoice call centre.
