The family of a 38-year-old man, who went missing three months ago, have petitioned Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to help them trace their kin.
Alfred Cheruiyot, an employee of Geothermal Development Company at Menengai Station, went missing on May 6 and nobody knows his whereabouts.
It is alleged that he was with his brother Japheth Cheruiyot and a cousin Wesley Ngetich at Three-Ways Club before proceeding to Mid-Rift Bar and Restaurant until 7pm when they parted ways.
His sister Sophie Koskey said they were together on the fateful day as they shopped at Ukwala Supermarket before he excused himself to meet his colleagues who kept calling him. The colleagues have since recorded statements with the police.
“Alfred informed me that we could not go home together after shopping and said he was going to meet his four colleagues who were waiting for him at Mid-Rift Bar and Restaurant,” said Koskey.
She said that night, Alfred’s wife Jackline informed the family that he had not returned home, which was unusual.

Koskey said the following day after they failed to get him on his two mobile numbers, which were switched off, they reported the matter to the police.
“We called one of the friends he said he was going to meet and who was known to us as his closest friend but he told us he was not aware of his whereabouts as he had travelled to Nairobi,” she said.
His wife Jackline said her husband’s Orange line went off at 8.45pm while the Safaricom line was on until 1am when it went off.
“His Safaricom line signal was traced to Thika the following day at around 2pm,” she said.
The family reported the matter at Central Police Station under OB Number 34/08/05/16.
Eight people, including the colleagues last seen with him, have recorded statements.
The family said their search has been unsuccessful, and have never heard anything from police officers despite reporting it to various stations.
“It is unfortunate and it seems something is being hidden from the family. The story about how he disappeared is not adding up,” said Alfred’s mother Rhoda.
Nakuru DCIO Henry Kiambati said they have been searching and tracing his mobile phone signal, which he confirmed was switched off immediately he disappeared.
