NAIROBI: Rongai has been voted the constituency that has best managed the Constituencies Development Fund in South Rift region.
In a ceremony held in Embu County, the Fund’s acting chief executive officer, Yusuf Mbuno, and board chairman Elias Mbau issued certificates of merit to constituencies that have done well in terms of CDF expenditure.
Rongai MP Raymond Moi received the certificate on behalf of his CDF committee.
“The award is in recognition of the evident endeavours to improve service delivery through implementation of the performance contract targets for 2014/2015 financial year,” reads the certificate.
The National Treasury has allocated a total of Sh36 billion to the 290 constituencies in the current financial year. CDF projects have been allocated Sh32 billion.

“I congratulate the Rongai CDF committee and the Parliamentary Committee for working closely to ensure that the funds allocated benefit the constituents. By God’s grace, we are the best constituency in the South Rift region, which has more than 44 constituencies,” Moi said while receiving the certificate.
The event came just days after Members of the National Assembly took control of the Fund after President Uhuru Kenyatta assented to the new National Government Constituencies Development Fund Act 2015.
