A 30-year-old woman was recently arraigned in a Nyeri court and accused of scalding her husband with hot porridge.
Zippora Waweru appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Shadrack Okato where she denied scalding her husband, 33-year-old Daniel Gachiri, with the hot porridge following a quarrel at their home in Kiawara village, Nyeri County.
The court heard that Gachiri had come from work and because he was tired, went straight to bed where he found his three-year-old son sleeping.
He joined him and after several minutes, he felt a hot substance on his neck and woke up only to see his wife holding a jug which had hot porridge.
He sustained second-degree burns. Zippora is said to have taken her son and fled.
